Panic Attacks

This is a quote from Rachael who suffers from panic attacks. Her comment alone makes me feel better, because unless you suffer from panic attacks you could never imagine the pain that the person endures. Here is her quote:

"In reality I think that anyone who lives with panic attacks or agoraphobia everyday is incredibly strong. Life can seem like a constant struggle but we plod on, we keep on trying. We are faced with so many obstacles like social events, difficult family situations on an on-going basis." Every thing is a strugggle beyond any ones imagination. The smallest of things to those afflicted like having company, going away from their home, being away from family, cooking, cleaning, taking care of yourself personally are chores almost unaccomplishable to those afflicted."

"People with panic attacks are by far some of the most intelligent people in the world according to scientists research. Those who are less intelligent are unlikely to be afflicted with this disorder."

I guess it is nice to be intelligent, but I'd rather be stupid and not have this crippling disease that makes everyday another nightmare.

I know when I was in the middle of the worst part of my illness I felt very weak. I look back on it now and realize I was strong because I made it! When you have anxiety every second seems like eternity. Don't ever give up trying to find something that works for you! There is hope!!

It's good to know that I'm intelligent! Most of the time you feel so stupid because you don't have control of what happening to you. My best advice is to take baby steps. Try to do something that you fear a little at a time and keep doing it everyday and soon that will become more comfortable. Keep fighting and don't give up! You may never be completely free but you'll enjoy life alot better, or come home for awhile and we'll get you feeling better.

My suggestion is to keep fighting. Take baby steps. Gradually do something you fear everyday and keep doing the same thing over and over again until you feel comfortable. Don't give up or come home for a while and we'll work on it together.
